BRIEF
Following a recent successful dual string power upgrade for this Client, UNG were appointed to design and build new state of the art 1MW Data Centre facility.
We planned the data centre to accommodate 100 racks, each with an average density of 10kW, utilising a modular approach for the UPS and space fit-out while ensuring optimal efficiencies throughout.
The data centre design follows a Tier 3 topology, featuring:
Dual transformation
Standby backup generation
Fully concurrently maintainable infrastructure
Our on-site design and project management team coordinated the entire build from inception, prioritising the integrity of the final solution.
The room architecture includes new raised access flooring as the supply air plenum to the cold aisle of the racks. Heavy-duty floor grilles and contained hot aisles segregate hot air from rack inlets. Maintenance of supply air conditions at a higher temperature, maximising the yield from free cooling.
The cooling solution implemented is an Inverter Driven DX All Air Free Cooling system, delivering M6 filtered fresh air to provide the necessary cooling for up to 95% of the year, with highly efficient trimming from the DX as needed. We designed the IT power solution with a modular approach:
Installing A&B 1200kW UPS output panels, initially connecting the first 600kW module per string
Allowing UPS and batteries to be upgraded on a plug-and-play basis without service disruption
Color-coordinating power strings to differentiate the critical power strings, from LV switchboards to overhead UPS bus-bar distribution and tap-off boxes
Rack-level power monitoring is provided, along with our OREO Room controller, offering visibility and management of IT power and the environment as a unified entity.
Diverse fibre routes are provided into the data centre, along with A&B ODF frames and a new overhead fibre infrastructure, ensuring segregated optical connectivity within the room.
The room is equipped with a Novec fire suppression system, CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control as part of the security specification.
